El Dorado Rotary Tornado Memorial

In June of 2008, members of the El Dorado Rotary Club dedicated a memorial to the 13 victims who lost their lives in the 1958 tornado that devestated the southwest part of El Dorado. The memorial features 13 pillars and an Aeolian harp, capturing the wind's soft melody. Placed directly on the path of the twister, the harp represents the community's spirit which was bent but not borken that fateful day.

A brick path memorial honoring over 900 veterans, current members of the US armed forces, and those who served on the home front. A six and one-half foot bronze eagle, "Sovereign Wings," is the centerpiece of the memorial. It rests majestically on top of a large limestone and brick base. A second memorial walk features the Statue of Liberty and our nation's flag.

This beautiful 1908 Romanesque Style Courthouse was conceived by the famous 19th century architect, George P. Washburn. Features a clock tower and a Goddess of Justice statue on the front pointed roof. Centennial Celebration was held in 2008.
